surgery

While PMDD can be "cured" by surgical removal of the ovaries (ovariectomy or oophorectomy), this is considered a treatment of last resort for only the most severe and treatment resistant conditions. Taking out the ovaries creates a postmenopausal state that, in itself, may be associated with unwanted and perhaps unhealthy side effects. In addition to health issues with menopause, surgery itself has risks.
